What Takes a Repair Above the Starting Price
Panel size and weight. A standard 6-foot dual-pane panel weighs 80 to 120 lbs. An 8-foot or three-panel unit can exceed 200 lbs, which means heavy-duty roller assemblies, a track that can carry the load, and two technicians rather than one. That is the single biggest driver of price on an otherwise identical job.
Whether the track needs work. This is the question that decides the invoice. If the bottom track crown is sound, the job is rollers and you are at the starting price. If a steel roller has cut a groove into it, new rollers alone will drop straight back into that groove within weeks — so the track gets capped or replaced, and the price moves up. We take the panel out and show you which applies before quoting.
Whether the frame is a current profile. Parts for frames from the last twenty-five years are generally available and reasonably priced. Frames from the 1970s and 80s often need a sourced equivalent, which adds both cost and sometimes a short lead time.
How much else needs doing. A latch that no longer meets its keeper, a missing bottom guide, perished weatherstrip and a bent screen frame are all small individually and add up together. We quote them as line items so you can decide what to do now and what can wait.
Repair or Replace: the Decision Framework
The honest test has four parts. Is the frame sound? If the frame is straight, uncorroded and square in its opening, repair is almost always the right answer regardless of the door's age. Are parts available? A current or recent profile can be kept running for another decade cheaply. Is the glass intact? A failed sealed unit is replaceable on its own and is not a reason to buy a door. Is the door single-pane on a hot exposure? That is the one case where a working door is still worth replacing, because the comfort difference in an inland summer is substantial.
If three of those four point to repair, repair. We will tell you when they do not, even when the replacement quote would have been the larger invoice.
Why Prices Differ Across the Inland Empire
They differ less than people expect. We hold the same rates across all ten cities we cover and charge no travel fee to any of them. What genuinely varies is the work each area tends to need: the older Sun City and Hemet housing stock runs original aluminum sliders where the track is usually part of the job, while the newer Temecula, Murrieta and Corona tracts have larger, heavier doors where the hardware grade drives the price. Neither is a pricing policy — it is just what the doors need.
For the range specific to your city, each service area page links through to that city's own pricing section.
